Lake Wales, Florida has a commission/manager form of government. Five city commissioners are elected to serve 4-year terms. City commissioners are elected by the citizens at-large but must reside in the area represented by the seat to which they are elected. On June 3, 2003, the City Commissioners enacted Ordinance 2003-15 establishing the first Tuesday in April as Municipal Election Day.
